So I'm leaving the charming and beautiful and expensive and amazing little town of Lucca today, after 3 nights. Sheesh! Who'd have thought?
I'm going to go through Castelvecchio and down to Siena. I've decided to skip Florence entirely for a number of reasons - maybe next time. But I will, I'm thinking, try to get to Rome on like Sunday afternoon and spend a couple days there.

Woohoo, I want to see Lucca- I await pictures aplenty- Sienna is quaint and their Catherdal is sweet. And yay Roma! Firenze would have been pretty hard to keep track of your bike while you walked around I think. I am sending good, lightasair thoughts you and Stacy- zoooooooooomo
Litch!!!
Castelvecchio is where my grandfather grew up! My mom is there right now for a couple to days taking photos of the house he grew up in for his 80th birthday party. I am so jealous you get to visit, I still haven't been yet. When you are there, just imagine Nazi's in the valley and italians in the hills carrying on guerrilla warfare. Those are the stories I have heard for years.
Sounds like so much fun!! I never gave you the address to my family's (pending) property there in Lucca did I?? I would love to get your perspective on it. Let me know if you plan on going back there.
Keep on humpin'!!
Awesome! Great ride... no prob on Firenze. Its worth a trip back and some days there alone. Last time we were there we stayed in Tuscany and only went up to Florence for a day to see the David. The villages and Castellos are where its at..
Ok, so in Sienna, when you get to the great piazza, think about this... we drove thru sienna in the dark on our way back from Montelpuciano and I got miserably lost and wound up driving (in one of those tiny euro cars) thru that square and down those tiny streets that are 'walking' only!!! I was crazy! But I was navagating by feel and I eventually got out! It was CAZY and the coolest thing is that 3 months after we got home, I got a ticket in that mail from Sienna for that drive!!! Crazy!
Ciao! Enjoy!
Dad
